Assembled from one of the largest collections of oddball vinyl in the world, The Holy Sea of Vinyl consists of both a historical archive and a large scale piece of sound art almost 3 hours long.

Sounds from the collection are carefully extracted and archived using a high quality transfer equipment, digitized, and placed into conversation with other records for an entirely new listening experience. 

Some may describe The Holy Sea as theater, others as a kind of vinyl musique-concrete music, while others may hear a collage of a long forgotten past.

A meditation expands into a cathedral. Computers are likened to the human mind as The Bible is recited in Magyar. The Pledge of Allegiance is presented at a 3rd grade class assembly, while an actual private wedding ceremony takes place in Allentown, Pennsylvania in 1963. Along the way, a spiritual guide leads us to the top of a mountain in search of a sword and chalice, while The Lord’s Prayer is sung over a Gregorian chant. Trees are felled deep in the forest as church bells are repeatedly struck by wrecking balls. Upon reaching the top of the mountain, the tools of creation and symbols of knowing are there no more. So shall it be.

The Red 

Every album in the The Holy Sea of Vinyl is of a unique origin, be it from a scarce recording or a one-off acetate recording that is the only copy in existence. Many of these records are the last copy in existence.

In 3 movements, you'll hear a rocket launch countdown on Christmas Eve as the narrator falls asleep. Kids in space will discuss the meaning of this special day as whales accompany an orchestra and Dean Martin goes missing.

After Dorothy is swept up by a tornado and meets The Wizard of Oz, a woodcutter is granted three wishes for not cutting down a Christmas tree. Five blind men feel out an elephant to find the meaning of religion while Blackstone, the legendary magician, promises to tell you the secret behind his biggest trick...if you listen just a bit longer.

Filled with obscure yet heartwarming Christmas music, voices from the last 50 years of vinyl records and an allegorical dialog that begs more holiday questions than answers this Christmas Gathering will bring you joy, laughter, earthquakes, and a few wrapped presents along the way.
